King Six Cigars are reviewed by Steve Crotty
“The only criticism I would have is that they are too tight at the head, but this is a minor concern as a gentle roll between your fingers will soon loosen it (innuendo merchants – grow up).”

Snake’s Bite from Wychwood Brewery is reviewed by Ruari O’Toole
“On opening there was a strong scent of the cider apples the beer is infused with during the brewing process, and a cascade of heavy metal guitar riffs. Also a motorbike drove past the house.”
All of this high praise for Wold Top brewery from our usually cynical Whisky Czar Steve Crotty had us a little suspicious. Fearing corruption and bribery, the Editor authorised an Internal Affairs investigation. Private Detective Chris Hall from the London Bureau of Beer Affairs and Special Agent Doug McCaffrey of the Cybernautics Division were unleashed on a range of Wold Top’s beers to see if the Czar was still righteous, or had fallen to decadence.

Shepherd’s Watch, from Wold Top brewery, is reviewed by Steve Crotty. The penultimate instalment of our Wold Top brewery take-over issue.
“My final foray (for now at least) into the world of the Wold Top brewery is Shepherd’s Watch, what they describe as their winter warmer, so if nothing else it’s at least hilariously timed as it is currently a boiling hot day June day…”

“Bottle number three of my Wold Top tour and I am now in a position to make certain observations about how Wold Top’s brewery style affects their beers…”
Scarborough Fair IPA from Wold Top Brewery is reviewed by Steve Crotty. Part of our Wold Top Brewery take-over issue.
“A beer that’s this good has nothing to be ashamed of. Neither do the brewers. Even if it doesn’t taste of Parsley, Sage, Rosemary and Thyme (sorry)…”
Golden Summer from Wold Top Brewery is reviewed by Steve Crotty. Part of our Wold Top brewery take-over week.
“My first beer review and not surprisingly it features a brewery close to my home; the Wold Top brewery. If you’ve never heard of them then don’t be alarmed…”
Steve Crotty has a gander at the Wold Top brewery
“…I must also apologise for the fact that I didn’t manage to take the Gentleman Drinker with me. His piece would have been far more witty and entertaining, but sadly when I called him to check on his availability, he was having tea with a queen. Not the queen he hastened to add, just an old cad who he hadn’t seen since he was rousted from the HMS Belfast for indecent exposure…”
