Literary Reviews

In 2009, over 130,000 books were published in the UK alone [Nielsen Book Data]. Against that staggering amount, you could lose your head or go boggle-eyed trying to decide what to read next. While we would be lying out of the other side of our face if we claimed to review the best books the shelves have to offer, given the sheer amount produced annually, we can at least give you a damn good idea of what’s enjoyable.

Each month, we peruse a brief but well chosen smattering of high brow literature, trashy fiction, poetry and non-fiction, and one classic novel review, with the aim of pointing you in more-or-less the right direction.

Once you’ve found a book, let our spirit critics and tobacco reviewers help you pick a good drink and, if you’re that way inclined, a fine smoke to help ease you into a well deserved state of rest and relaxation.
